I wished I could tell my younger self this because being seen trying is a badge of honor, not a mark of shame. I feel like I’m the Little Engine That Could.
Let me tell you why.
Lately, I’ve been on a mission.
Fitness journey, round eleventy-seven? Check.
Prioritizing self-care, even with a house full of rambunctious boy-mom energy? Absolutely.
Oh, and relaunching that YouTube channel that collected dust for, ahem, let’s just say a significant amount of time? You betcha.

And guess what? The ever-present voice of doubt (aka the devil whispering in my ear) tried to talk me out of it all. “You’ve tried this before,” his lame self said. “What makes you think this time will be any different?”
I don’t care anymore.
I don’t care if the world sees me huffing and puffing on that treadmill, or if my self-care practices seem a little messy at times (bubble baths with a side of “Hey Ma, can I get a snack?” from my son 😆R).I don’t even care if my YouTube comeback is met with crickets — although, hey, here’s hoping for some friendly faces!
Why? Because progress isn’t always linear, and sometimes the journey is just as important as the destination.
Here’s The Truth About “Trying”
It’s a messy, beautiful verb. It means you’re putting yourself out there, pushing your limits, and daring to dream. It means you believe in something bigger than yourself, and you’re willing to take that first step, even if it feels a little wobbly.
Maybe you’ve started and stopped “that” project one too many times. Perhaps that fitness goal feels like a mountain you just can’t climb. Or maybe, like me, you’re simply trying to navigate the beautiful chaos of motherhood while holding onto your own dreams.
Whatever it is, don’t let the fear of being seen trying hold you back.

Because here’s the secret nobody tells you: the world needs more people who are willing to try. We need more dreamers, more doers, more folks who stumble and get back up, covered in mud and maybe a few tears.
So, the next time that voice of doubt whispers in your ear, tell it this:
“I may not get it perfect the first time, but you bet I’m going to keep trying. Because sometimes, the trying is the secret sauce.”
Redefine What It Means To “Try”
- Let’s make it a badge of honor, a symbol of courage and resilience.
- Let’s show the world that progress is beautiful, even when it’s messy.
- And most importantly, let’s not forget to celebrate ourselves, every wobbly step and awkward attempt along the way.
Because guess what? You trying? That’s pretty inspiring if I say so myself!
